Wyoming Communication Projects

While working for the City of Wyoming, Amanda helped support a wide variety of activities, communications, and events. Below are highlighted projects of her work from 2020-2021.

Mayor’s State of the City Address

As the City of Wyoming’s communication specialist, Amanda regularly wrote talking points and quotes for Mayor Poll. Her most notable of these, was the 2021 Mayor’s State of the City Address, viewable on WKTV beginning at the 10-minute mark. She created a highlight video of the State of the City Address, which included more visuals to help spread the key messages to a larger audience than a speech would typically attact.

Wyoming Gives Back

With social distancing still at play in December 2020, Wyoming’s annual holiday toy drive event had to pivot to be a virtual event. Amanda partnered with local WKTV to produce a live broadcast and streamed holiday event with toy drop off locations across the city.

Winter Parking Restrictions

Within the city limits of Wyoming, odd-even winter parking restrictions are in effect December 1 – March 31. Many people had expressed frustration and confusion about how to know when and where to park. Amanda worked with the Department of Public Safety to refresh the communications to help gain compliance with the ordinance. The new courtesy warning replaced the more authoritative warning previously used by Public Safety as well as providing the information in English and Spanish.

Redevelopment Ready Communities Certification

Amanda wrote the marketing strategy for the City of Wyoming’s Redevelopment Ready Community Certification.

Black History Month Business Interviews

Amanda worked with a representative of the Community Enrichment Commission to present Black History Month Business Interviews series spotlighting black-owned businesses in the Wyoming and Kentwood area. The project entailed identifying and scheduling interviews with businesses and WKTV partners, moderating the interviews, and promoting them on social media.
