As a long-time transit user and advocate, Amanda was familiar with the pain points of the bus riding experience. Finding the right schedules, planning trips, getting live updates on delays, receiving notifications of detours, and understanding where to get on and off were huge barriers for new and existing customers. Determined to improve customer experience, Amanda worked with the CEO and leadership team to launch a partnership with Transit App, a top-rated public transportation app that is built by transit users.
The project included:
- signing a contract with Transit app
- developing a media release
- launching social media and interior bus ad campaign
- customer experience staff training
- coordinating media interviews
Results
Customers and staff have responded enthusiastically to the update. Prior to the app partnership, there was not trip planning app that allowed customers to enter origin and destination resulting in step-by-step directions. Customers have enjoyed having this power trip planning tool and use of Transit app has increased in the region since launch.
Webpage and Media Releases
A simple Transit app webpage was created to host the links to download the app, a short tutorial of how it works, and helpful links to how-to articles on Transit apps website. A Transit app media release was issued to draw media attention which resulted in multiple local and national outlets creating stories on the partnership.
Social Media Posts
Transit app will continue to be advertised as the primary app partnership with The Rapid. A social and print campaign is ongoing that draws attention to key benefits of using the app.
