In early September 2022, Amanda was reflecting on her work day over a meal. The Rapid was facing a worker shortage, the new CEO wanted to see the Central Station Platform activated, and The Rapid was looking to improve relationships with organizational partners. An idea struck, she approached the CEO about creating a multi-agency job fair on the platform with a cross-departmental team. With approval, Amanda coordinated with her team, Human Resources, and External Relations to plan and implement the “Roll with Us” Job Fair.
The project included:
- identifying partners along transit routes interested in participating in the fair
- creating flier, social graphics, and a paid media strategy
- managing a cross-departmental team to launch a new event in less than 35 days
Results
“Roll with Us” was well-received by partner participants with 100% of survey responses highly interested in participating in future events. The Rapid hired eight new bus operators that were drawn in by the event. “Roll with Us” built positive brand messages related to The Rapid’s essential services working to support the economic engine of West Michigan.
Facebook Event Page
Amanda created an event page on Facebook Roll With Us Job Fair Event to draw attention to the event. The event was cohosted with the partner organization to increase its reach.
Fliers and Signage
Amanda worked with her team to design a “Roll with Us” logo that could be used for future job fairs. The branding was used across fliers and event t-shirts.
Paid Media
Amanda worked with Human Resources to develop a budget for paid media for the job fair. Once the budget was determined, she worked to launch the paid media relationships with I Heart Media and 13 On Your Side. This not only drew attention to the event itself, but also showcased The Rapid as an essential service for the workforce in West Michigan.
